Living in Lantana, Texas

Lantana is a 1,780-acre master-planned community in southwest Denton County. It includes approximately 4,000 homes, an 18-hole private golf course, neighborhood pools, fitness centers, parks and an extensive trail system.

The community sits north of Flower Mound near Bartonville, Argyle and Copper Canyon. Its location appeals to buyers who want an amenity-focused suburban neighborhood with access to Denton, DFW Airport and major employment areas in North Texas.

Lantana includes more than 30 residential sections developed by different builders. Buyers will find traditional single-family homes, golf-course properties, larger executive homes and a limited number of gated neighborhoods.

Lantana Golf Club

Lantana Golf Club is a private club located within the community. Its 18-hole championship course was designed by Jay and Carter Morrish to follow the area’s rolling terrain, wooded areas and natural drainage corridors.

The course provides a traditional private-club experience with practice facilities, golf instruction, dining, fitness and member events. Its residential setting creates golf frontage throughout several parts of Lantana, although most homes in the community are not directly on the course.

Club membership is separate from homeownership and is not included in Lantana Community Association assessments. Membership categories, pricing and availability should be confirmed directly with Lantana Golf Club.

Homes in Lantana

Lantana was developed primarily from the early 2000s through the late 2010s. Because construction occurred in multiple phases, home styles and floor plans vary throughout the community.

Most properties are traditional single-family homes. Common features include open kitchen and living areas, dedicated offices, game rooms, media rooms, covered patios and two- or three-car garages. Larger homes may include pools, outdoor kitchens and golf-course or greenbelt views.

The individual neighborhood section matters. Some areas have smaller lots and more standardized floor plans, while others contain larger executive homes or properties with greater architectural variation. A few sections offer gated access, but Lantana as a whole is not a gated community.

Golf-Course Homes

Golf-course homes represent a relatively small portion of Lantana’s housing inventory. These properties may provide open views, mature landscaping and fewer immediate rear neighbors, but the experience depends on the lot.

Buyers should consider ball exposure, cart-path placement, course-maintenance activity and the home’s position relative to tees, greens and common landing areas. Drainage and grading also deserve attention because the course follows the area’s rolling topography.

Homes marketed as being near Lantana Golf Club do not necessarily have direct golf frontage. A property search should distinguish between course-front homes, homes with partial views and interior properties simply located within the larger community.

Lantana Home Prices

Lantana includes a wide enough range of homes that one community-wide median does not tell the full story. Prices vary based on neighborhood section, home size, age, condition, lot and proximity to the golf course.

Smaller and older homes generally occupy the more accessible portion of the market. Larger updated properties, gated homes and golf-course residences typically command higher prices. Renovated homes with pools and strong outdoor living spaces can also carry meaningful premiums.

Buyers should compare homes within similar sections of Lantana. A smaller interior property should not be evaluated against a larger golf-course home simply because both share the same community name.

Community Amenities

Lantana residents have access to recreational facilities maintained through the community association. These amenities are separate from Lantana Golf Club.

The community includes multiple swimming pools, fitness centers, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, greenbelts and miles of walking and biking trails. Lantana also hosts resident activities and seasonal events throughout the year.

The number and distribution of amenities make location within the community relevant. Buyers who expect to walk to a pool, school or fitness center should evaluate the specific home rather than assuming every amenity is equally close to every neighborhood.

HOA and District Assessments

Lantana’s governance and assessments are more complex than those of a conventional subdivision.

Properties are subject to the Lantana Community Association and may also fall within one of the local fresh water supply districts. These districts help provide services and infrastructure within the community and may levy taxes or assessments separate from standard county and school taxes.

Buyers should review:

  • Current association dues
  • Applicable fresh water supply district
  • Total property-tax rate
  • Transfer or resale-related fees
  • Architectural requirements
  • Any neighborhood-specific assessments

The precise costs should be verified for the individual property. Figures from another Lantana home may not apply if it is located in a different district or residential section.

Location and Access

Lantana is positioned between the established communities of Flower Mound and the growing Argyle and Northlake area. FM 407 provides the primary east-west route, connecting residents with shopping, dining and services in Bartonville, Highland Village and Flower Mound.

DFW International Airport is within a practical drive, although travel time depends heavily on traffic and the selected route. Residents can also reach Denton, AllianceTexas, Southlake, Grapevine and the northern Dallas suburbs without living in a more urban setting.

Lantana is less convenient for buyers who commute daily to central Dallas. It tends to work better for those employed in Denton County, near DFW Airport, in the Alliance corridor or in the northern suburbs.

Denton ISD Schools

Lantana is served by Denton Independent School District. Elementary assignments can include campuses located within or near the community, while many students have historically attended Harpool Middle School and Guyer High School.

Assignments depend on the property address and can change as Denton County continues to grow. Denton ISD has published updated attendance boundaries for the 2026–27 school year, so buyers should use the district’s current attendance-zone maps and school locator.

Private-school options in the surrounding area include Liberty Christian School in Argyle and Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound. Commute times and admissions requirements should be evaluated separately.

What Buyers Should Know

Lantana provides more resident amenities than many established golf communities, but the private club and residential association remain separate.

Golf membership is optional. Most homes are not on the course, and only a limited number of neighborhoods are gated. Property taxes and district assessments can also be higher or more complicated than buyers expect if they focus only on the association dues.

The community may be a strong fit for buyers who want suburban amenities, Denton ISD schools, newer homes and access to private golf. Buyers prioritizing acreage, complete privacy or a shorter commute to central Dallas may prefer other locations.
